MULTISTATE PAYROLL TAX SPECIALIST

Our client is one of the largest and most prominent employers in Pittsburgh and is experiencing hyper-growth. With a large and growing accounting and finance team, there is a significant opportunity for growth and advancement within the department. The company boasts a team-oriented culture and provides its' employees with the tools and training necessary to perform. This position is responsible for processing a very high volume of multistate payroll for 11,000 employees.
OVERVIEW OF THE MULTISTATE PAYROLL TAX SPECIALIST ROLE:
- Prepare and monitor processes for payroll and taxes.
- Payroll Tax Specialist performs highly technical accounting work in preparation for and maintenance of an automated payroll system and other financial and statistical records and reports.
- Monitors payroll processes to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations and internal policies.
- Implement technical accounting principles and procedures.
- Ensure all payroll tax deposits are balanced and deposited in a timely manner.
- Liaise with federal and state tax offices as necessary.
- Payroll Tax Specialist prepares the following federal and multi state tax filings: 940, 940 Schedule R, 941, 941 Schedule B & R, W-2, Local State Taxes, SUTA quarterly reports.
- Maintain all consolidated payroll and tax related data to assist in quarterly reconciliation of cross company data.
- Reconciliation of payroll and tax withholding records; the deposit of Federal income tax withholdings; provide support necessary for preparation of Federal W-2 forms and data; reconcile and submit Social Security and Medicare documents.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR MULTISTATE PAYROLL TAX SPECIALIST ROLE:
- 4+ years of experience in payroll accounting/ TAX filing environment
- The Payroll Tax Specialist must have a degree in a Business-related field.
- CPP preferred.
- Progressive payroll experience with the knowledge of federal and state laws, aggregate tax filing requirements and W-2 Reporting.
