Position Overview
Searching for an MS Excel Rapid Application Developer to support and develop the Office 2016 applications used by Portfolio Managers, Traders and Risk Managers.
The position is based in Newport Beach but may require occasional short-term travel to New York.
Essential Job Functions Key responsibilities:
Typical end-users have intermediate MS Excel/Excel VBA skills and require assistance adding advanced functionality to their workbooks.

You will be located in the Front Office and will respond to advanced MS Excel queries about functionality required during the trading day with a priority on the Trade Floor, although you might be asked to assist other business areas at times, so the ability to prioritize is important. You will need to be responsive and tenacious with a can do attitude. You will also have longer-term development projects of your own.

Required Skills And Experience

  • 10+ years of experience supporting and developing in MS Excel and MS Excel VBA in a financial services Front or Middle Office role.

  • Excel front end
    • Advanced native functions/formulas, array formulas
    • Charting, data visualisation
    • Workbook design and optimisation , calculation trees
    • Pivot tables/ listobjects /query tables
    • Names, custom properties
    • Data validation and conditional formatting
    • External data connections (including Oracle)
    • Power Query/M-Language
  • VBA
    • The VBA library and language syntax, the Excel object model
    • Debugging, error handling, logging
    • Classes and interfaces
    • Automating other Office applications from MS Excel
    • Developing sophisticated VBA Excel add-ins (. xlam )
    • Ribbon UI, XML
    • Microsoft Scripting Runtime
    • VBA UDFs
    • ADO
    • Userforms
    • Windows API (32/64-bit declarations), conditional compilation
  • Oracle to the level of aggregate functions and joins in SELECT statements. You will not be developing in SQL but must be able to understand the SQL that end-users have written.


Desirable Skills And Experience

  • Bloomberg and Bloomberg Excel Tools
  • Office 365, version compatibility and 32/64 bit considerations
  • Some Python and or C .Net
  • Experience using GitLab source control
  • Windows 10, including basic knowledge of infrastructure to assist in trouble-shooting
  • IT Help Desk experience
