Duties Drive sedans, vans, 44-passenger buses and 56-passenger coach-style buses, loaded with personnel, articles, and materials throughout the installation and on public roads. Assist with loading and unloading materials and/or passengers. Complete preventive maintenance service records for vehicles. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B license with endorsement for passengers. Must also be able to obtain and retain a valid state operator's license. Drug testing required prior to employment and random testing during employment. Pre-employment physical and annual physical while in the position. May be required to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays and on-call duty hours May be required to wear a uniform when dealing with the general public. Must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks driving motor vehicles. I can maneuver these vehicles within close tolerances when driving; drive over long distances; assists with loading and unloading materials and/or passengers. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate physical effort is required to turn vehicles and operate controls while driving, and in the frequent handling of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and the occasional handling of objects weighing over 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside and is occasionally exposed to bad weather while loading and unloading vehicle. Is subject to cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles. Is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents while driving in all types of traffic and weather. Occasional short term travel outside of the immediate duty area required. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
