MORES is a team-based crisis intervention for children and adolescents ages 3 to 21 years experiencing escalating emotional and/or behavioral needs. MORES provides up to four weeks of follow-up services for individuals who have experienced a behavioral health crisis. The goal of the MORES program is to stabilize the present concern, empower & educate families to monitor, manage & cope with similar situations in the future, establish & build resiliency skills and strengthen the natural support systems of families.

Mobile Crisis Management - MORES Licensed Clinician

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer or Designee

Purpose: Assure maintenance of all minimum standards of Mobile Outreach, Response, Engagement and Stabilization (MORES) Team

Education/Experience/Other Requirements:

Verification of the following competencies:

  1. Must be a licensed clinician with specialized knowledge of child and adolescent interventions and models. License held must be recognized by the state of North Carolina. Must have knowledge and training in dual diagnosis (MHSU and IDD).
  2. Must complete the MORES training curriculum.
  3. Must have 8 full years of driving experience and a valid driver's license . The following must be true in regards to DMV record:
    • No one with a past DWI on their record will ever be able to drive a company vehicle or transport a resident in a personal vehicle
    • No one under the age of 25 can drive a company vehicle
    • To transport residents in a personal vehicle you must have had a valid driver's license for three years and a clean driving record. If you get your first license at the age of 16 you must be 20 and have nothing on your driving record. If you are 17 when you get your license then you must be 21 and have a clean driving record.
  4. No substantiated findings on the NC Personnel Registry/Health Care Program and must not be listed on the HHS/OIG List of Excluded Individual/Entities.
  5. SBI and DMV records must meet the requirements of area mental health contracts.


Responsibilities Regarding Consumer Rights:

  1. To practice and promote the policies and procedures of Therapeutic Alternatives, Inc., thereby ensuring basic rights to all people receiving our services.
  2. To attend meetings and in-services as directed by my supervisor for the purpose of continuing education regarding consumer rights, choices, and outcomes.
  3. To respect and maintain the confidentiality of all consumer information to which I am privileged during the carrying out of my general responsibilities.
  4. To be polite and courteous to all consumers, guests, and staff of this corporation.
  5. To learn/understand my role in the process and meaning of accreditation.


General Responsibilities of MORES Licensed Clinician:

  1. Provide crisis response and/or follow up for recipient. Must be flexible and willing to work various hours including nights and weekends. Services provided must adhere to the MORES Scope of Work.


  1. Provide clinical oversight of MORES Team.


  1. Required knowledge in:
  • Functional limitations and health problems that may occur in clients with SED, dual diagnosis, or clients with other disabilities, as well as strategies to reduce limitations and/or health problems
  • Eligibility for Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities
  • Safety and crisis planning
  • Behavioral health service array including PRTF and other child/adolescent behavioral health residential placement criteria: federal, state, and local resources
  • Using the strengths and needs assessment (including environmental, psychosocial, health, and functional factors, to develop a service plan
  • System of care values and wraparound principles
  • Family driven and youth-guided care including the client's and family/caregiver's right to make decisions about all aspects of their child's care
  • Family supports and services
  • Linkage and connection
  • Coordination of services and supports
  • Principles of human behavior and interpersonal relationships
  • General principles of record documentation

  1. Required skills in:
    • Engagement of youth and family/caregiver
    • Negotiating with clients, family/caregivers, and service providers
    • De-escalation: observing, interrupting, and shifting dynamics, education, and skill introduction
    • Assessment: strengths, triggers, communication, contexts (medical, mental health, trauma, development, patterns of behavior, collateral outreach, etc.)
    • Planning: safety, crisis and transition, alternative strategies, plan oversight, progress monitoring
    • Identifying, developing, or providing services to clients with serious emotional disturbance
    • Identifying services within the established service system and uncovering natural supports to meet needs
    • Motivational interviewing strategies


  1. Required ability to:
    • Report findings of the assessment or onsite visit, either in writing or an alternative format for clients who have visual impairments
    • Demonstrate a positive regard for clients and their families
    • Be persistent and remain objective
    • Work independently, performing duties under general supervision
    • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing
    • Develop rapport and communicate with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds


  1. Complete documentation of a daily full service note for each day/event service is provided. All documentation must be completed on the day the service is provided and completed electronically or in BLACK INK only. Use of "white-out" is not acceptable.


  1. Provide coordination of movement across levels of care, directly to the person and the family and coordinate discharge planning and community re-entry following hospitalization, residential services and other levels.


  1. Monitor and manage the presenting psychiatric and/or addiction symptoms.


  1. Provide linkage to appropriate services to include transportation if needed.


  1. In a timely manner and as required, forward documentation to designated staff.


  1. Help maintain the self-respect, personal dignity and physical safety of each recipient.


  1. Work cooperatively with all other staff and relate favorably to recipients and families.


  1. Attend all mandatory staff meetings and consumer conferences or give advance notice to the COO or Designee as to reasons for inability to attend.


  1. Receive supervision by the COO or Designee.


  1. Report any changes in consumer's condition, family situation, or needs to the appropriate personnel.


  1. Report any accident or incident to the COO or Designee.


  1. Report to COO or Designee any suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation of recipients.


  1. Be familiar with TA, Inc. policies and procedures including the securing of emergency services and the regulations concerning medication administration.


  1. Be familiar with HIPAA regulations and abide by them.


  1. Assure consumer's rights are met and maintain consumer confidentiality at all times.


  1. Operate office equipment as necessary, i.e. calculator, copier, computer, fax, etc.


  1. Obtain and keep current all training required by the agency. Understand that failure to renew classes by their due date will result in being removed from the schedule.


  1. Perform other duties as required by circumstances.
  • A graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field other than human services
  • Must have at least four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated MH/DD/SA experience with the population served, or be a substance abuse professional who has four years of full-time post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
  • Must have a minimum of one year experience in providing crisis management services in the following settings: assertive outreach, assertive community treatment, emergency department or other service providing 24/7 response in emergent or urgent situations.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
  • Must have a valid NC Driver's License and maintain during duration of employment.
  • Must have a clear DMV record and maintain during duration of employment.
  • Must have at least 8 years of driving experience, as this is a requirement of company's liability insurance carrier.
  • Must have no substantiated findings on the NC Health Care Registry.
