Subsidiary: Carson Valley Children's Aid Program: Clinical Dept. - Residential Campus Position Function: The Milieu Therapist is a member of the clinical treatment team who provides treatment within the residential milieu. This position serves as a bridge in clinical services between the milieu and the rest of the clinical team (Psychiatrist, Clinical Director, RTF Therapist). The Milieu Therapist runs therapeutic groups, provides direct clinical support to clients within the residential treatment milieu, and provides guidance and coaching to direct care staff. This individual will be in the milieu between the hours of 2-10 P.M. on weekdays and 12-8 P.M. on weekends. Role Requirements: Master's degree in a field related to mental health 2+ years of experience in a child/adolescent mental health or chemical dependency setting, child welfare or juvenile justice setting, or educational setting Preferred: Licensed mental health professional Preferred: Experience and training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (additional training in DBT will also be provided) Valid driver's license Essential Job Functions: Provide direct services delivery of therapeutic groups within the residential milieu. Provide direct clinical support to clients within the residential milieu. Provide guidance and coaching to direct care staff in the residential milieu to ensure the implementation of the treatment plan, as developed by the treatment team. Participate in weekly clinical team meetings. Participates in weekly direct care team meetings. Provide consultation regarding clients' mental health needs and progress to other treatment team members to ensure the client's successful participation in the full treatment program, as specified in the treatment plan. Complete all required documentation in a timely fashion and in required formats, including but not limited to group progress notes and treatment progress summaries. Serve as a member of the treatment team. Attend treatment plan reviews of assigned children/families and make recommendations for ongoing treatment planning. Maintain ongoing communication with other agency team members who work with the children/families regarding client progress toward treatment plan goals. Provide emergency evaluation and intervention when critical situations arise requiring such interventions, as assigned by the Medical Director, Campus Director, or Clinical Director. Participate in clinical supervision and staff training programs as assigned. Carry out all other duties assigned by the program supervisor to ensure the successful implementation of the client's treatment plan. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Understanding of at-risk youth and trauma-informed practice Ability to work on a team and provide supervision to interns Ability to multitask Ability to effectively communicate with children and adolescents Preferred: Training and experience in evidence-based practices Work Environment and Primary Work Locations: The Milieu Therapist will be an active part of the residential milieu within the residential treatment facility's cottages May accompany children on program activities outside of the milieu Hours will include evening and weekend shifts. Physical Considerations: Moderate physical exertion required Ability to maintain composure and effectively intervene in any crisis situations with youth Training Requirements: All new hires are required to go through mandated orientation. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) trainings, as indicated Comply with Agency Annual Training requirements. Must pass CPR and First Aid training Must pass Safe and Positive Approaches training EOE
