Responsibilities Peraton is seeking a Mid-Sr. level Microsoft Windows Systems Administrator to join our team in Wallops, VA supporting our Space Exploration Network Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract based out of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. This position will offer ability for some remote telework, but will require mostly work on site at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility, and the person in this role must be local to the area. As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment and systems engineering of NASA's worldwide satellite communication networks. Join the SENSE team to support NASA programs that integrate with state-of-the-art RF satellite ground communications systems and technologies. In this position, you will become part of NASA's return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that builds and ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Assist in the design, development, and creation of real-time and high-performance Windows systems Perform routine Windows System Administration tasks such as patching, network configuration and software updates.
Assist with design, implementation, and maintenance of Windows systems in an Integration and Testing environment.
Maintain MS Active Directory implementation across established domain boundaries. Assist IT Security Team with mitigating vulnerabilities of these systems to demonstrate NIST 800-53 compliance. Establish and maintain a patching regimen across all systems. Perform account management and create disaster recovery solutions. Collaborate with technical engineering teams to identify, resolve, and mitigate system anomalies. Develop technical products and reports visible to various groups and levels of leadership. Support regular audits and assessments and demonstrate system compliance and risk mitigation to assessors. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or other related technical discipline and 8 - 10+ years of related technical experience in IT infrastructure and/or Information Security, or an AS degree and 12+ years of experience; without a degree, 14+ years of directly related experience with technical training and certifications may be considered 8+ years of experience in Microsoft Windows administration, including Active Directory management An understanding of fundamental security and network concepts (intrusion detection, TCP/IP, SSL, ports, switching and routing
2+ years of scripting and automation experience Understanding Virtual Machines and the systems they run on
Position will require ability to obtain NASA agency Public Trust background check approvals, which requires US citizenship Desired Qualifications: Experience with VMWare and ESXI
Experience with embedded systems Familiarity with building or maintaining satellite ground systems 2+ years of PowerShell or any other scripting language experience (professional use for automation strongly preferred Understanding of networking principles Ability to create/fabricate and lay network cabling Ability to work in both a team environment and independently as a proactive self-starter
Excellent organizational skills such as prioritizing and completing multiple tasks within critical deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills Target Salary Range $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
