The Boeing Company is currently seeking a
Mid Level Software Engineer to join the Product & Capabilities team located in
Berkeley, MO , Mesa, AZ or Plano, TX. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
The Boeing Enterprise Software Products and Capabilities (ESPC) - Software Frameworks team is seeking Senior Software Engineers to join us to develop platform software including device drivers for real-time, embedded flight software on safety critical and mission critical avionics systems constrained by size, weight, and power (SWaP) and cyber assured environments.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Position Responsibilities:- Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for product lines of real time embedded capabilities.
- Develops and maintains code and integrates software product line components into a fully functional software system
- Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure product line requirements are met
- Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, pipelines, tools and metrics
- Executes and documents software research and development projects
- Participate in peer reviews and overall technical product reviews
- Works under general direction

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- 3 years of experience programming in Go, Java, C/C , Rust, or Python
- 3+ years of experience developing software using Git for repository revision control and configuration management (CM)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):- Experience developing software per applications programming interfaces (APIs) to open standards and design practices
- 1+ year experience of developing Integrated Modular Avionics software including device drivers, per aircraft interface standards such as ARINC 653
- 1+ years of experience developing software for embedded systems, using one or more real-time operating systems (RTOS). Experience with Wind River VxWorks or any version of Linux is preferred, but general understanding of an RTOS is acceptable (other applicable RTOS experience includes but is not limited to DDC-I Deos or Green Hills Software Integrity)
- Experience with Linux based operating system
- Experience with agile software development
Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master +3 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Travel: 10% Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
