Description JOB DESCRIPTION : The Metrology Technician Quality Assurance (QA) performs reviews and audits in the Air Force Primary Standards Laboratory (AFPSL) to comply with the quality program, USAF TO 00-2-14, ISO 17025 and contract requirements. The QA will perform internal audits and document the results. Prepares laboratory for inspection. Controls certification stamps. Provides technical assistance, represents management on quality issues; identifies opportunities for process improvements and accident prevention. Manages technical manual improvement and product quality deficiency reports. Observes operation of test and measurement equipment as required to perform product and process audits. Analyzes measurement data or quality assurance results and makes recommendations to management accordingly. REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION : Associate's Degree in an engineering discipline or related equivalent experience. Four or more years of experience in a DoD (USAF preferred) or commercial calibration laboratory. Knowledge of Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) operations, TMDE calibration, Air Force Metrology and Calibration Program requirements, test accuracy ratios/uncertainty, equipment substitution, and quality experience is required. Formal training in metrology disciplines. Experience with auditing under ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025 and/or TO 00-20-14 is a plus. Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Programs: to perform tabulation, trend analysis and graph/chart design. Requires excellent English communication (speaking and writing), and interpersonal skills Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be able to qualify for or have successfully completed a National Agency Check Investigation within the last ten (10) years. Qualifications RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES : Essential/Typical Duties: Perform inspections on various types of equipment to insure they are in compliance with the AFPSL quality system Non-Essential Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Often Climbing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Standing, Sitting, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Talking, Hearing Lifting/Moving Requirements:The individual ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements when calibrating certain TMDE. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS : Normally works in an environmentally controlled work area.
