Job Duties/Responsibilities: Operating specialized tools and machinery that fire high-powered jets of sand or other abrasives at metal and other similarly hard surfaces. This is done to remove paint, grime, old adhesives, rust, and other imperfections from the surface so that it can be plated.

  • Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart a specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment: Shovels or pours abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade, into a machine hopper
  • Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action
  • Loads parts on racks in enclosed rooms, into tumbling barrels, or into cabinets
  • Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through the nozzle or into the tumbling barrel
  • Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over the surface of parts
  • Manually directs nozzle over the surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove-fitted cabinet openings, and manipulates small parts under nozzle for a specified interval
  • May examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications

Required Skills:

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to follow instructions
  • Basic math and geometry
  • Ability to coordinate more than one job at a time
  • Ability to maintain a regular and reliable attendance record
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Good hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to lift and move 1-50 lbs. as needed
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and supervisors in a cooperative manner
  • Constant standing on hard surfaces for 8+ hours
  • Some knowledge of PC and Microsoft Excel

Shift: 3:00 PM - 1:00 AM, Monday - Thursday + OT as scheduled

(Must complete training on 1st shift, 5:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Thursday + OT as scheduled for 1-2 months)


Wage: $24.00 / hour (Pay rate includes any applicable shift differential)


Signing Bonus: $1500 (current employees are not eligible for signing bonus)
