MEP Discipline Leader

On behalf of a well-established, employee-owned engineering firm with a strong reputation for delivering quality AEC solutions.

Now seeking an MEP Discipline Leader to aid in their mission to provide a comprehensive range of engineering services. The core focus sectors for this role include Higher Education, Public Facilities, and Healthcare.

The MEP Discipline Leader will lead the New England Region from the company office in Boston with a flexible working schedule. Play a crucial role in overseeing our projects' various HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects, ensuring their successful completion while adhering to the highest standards.

Lead a collaborative and innovative team that puts client satisfaction at the forefront while winning new business and developing the New England region.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders, architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and goals.
Develop MEP and HVAC project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure successful execution.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and project teams to integrate MEP systems seamlessly with HVAC and the overall building design.
Review, prepare, and assess MEP design proposals, drawings, and specifications for compliance with local building codes and industry standards.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to the design team for optimal MEP system selection and implementation.
Approve final design documents and secure all required permits before construction.
Supervise and manage MEP staff during construction to ensure adherence to approved plans, specifications, and safety guidelines.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
Provide technical expertise in MEP engineering disciplines to support the team's design efforts.
Review and approve engineering design proposals, calculations, and drawings for code compliance.
Lead and mentor a team of MEP and HVAC engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Maintain regular communication with clients to provide project updates, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
Collaborate with business development teams to identify potential clients and secure new engineering projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Professional Engineering (PE) license required
Advanced certificates a plus (e.g., LEED, CEM, PMP)
Proven experience (typically 12+ years) in managing MEP projects in the construction industry
Strong knowledge of local building codes and industry standards related to MEP systems
Leadership experience and communication skills
Proficiency in using MEP design software and project management tools
