As a mental health counselor for Anna Jaques Hospital on the child psychiatric unit in Amesbury, Massachusetts, you'll bring your experience and knowledge where your voice matters. Our 16-bed co-ed unit provides short term acute inpatient care to children 4 to 18 years old. A mental health counselor is an integral part of our multidisciplinary treatment team on this specialty unit. You will provide direct care and support not only to our patients but also their families and help make decisions that impact the lives of your peers, patients and your community.
How You Care for Our Patients
As a mental health counselor, you will work under the supervision of registered nurses and will help maintain a safe therapeutic milieu on our psychiatric unit. You will also conduct safety checks, monitor patients, audit and prepare charts, assist with ADL's and provide supportive interactions with patients. The mental health counselor is a contributing member of a dedicated team of professionals who work together to provide children and adolescents with effective and compassionate psychiatric care. This unit is staffed by psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nurses, mental health counselors, and social workers. The unit is supported with the full resources of Anna Jaques Hospital and Sheppard Pratt Solutions.
You Bring Meaningful Experience
Successful Candidates will have the following:
- High School diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Mental Health, Human Services or related field preferred
- Previous experience working in mental health or in child/adolescent services is preferred but not required
