Position Summary

The Mental Health Clinician will function as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing recovery-oriented, person-centered care at Recovery Place Kent Inpatient Services. This clinician will deliver mental health treatment services to inpatient residents, utilizing a harm-reduction approach and evidence-based practices and Valley Cities' policies and practices. The clinician will ensure a strong recovery environment, person-centered wellness, and integrated care to meet the person's individual needs while assuring that appropriate treatment services are provided.

Essential Job Functions

Work with the Director to implement evidence based mental health practices; including patient centered care, harm reduction and discharge planning.

Conduct assessments, referrals, groups, and individual treatment.

Facilitate treatment groups in accordance with WAC's and RCW's.

Be comfortable working with individuals who suffer from a mental illness by providing education and empowering clients to meet mental health treatment goals.

Work with multi-disciplinary care team members, including chemical dependency, mental health, psychiatric and medical providers, as part of a comprehensive therapeutic environment, to assess and address patient issues throughout the workday.

Collaborate with clinical, provider and nursing staff to identify and support residents' goals.

Mediate and/or de-escalate resident conflict as needed.

Assist residents in safety planning.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Master's degree in behavioral sciences or related fields

Full or Associate licensure with State of WA Department of Health as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC/A) or Licensed Marriage/Family Therapist (LMFT/A) or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW/A).

Mental Health Professional (MHP)

Experience:

Understanding of and familiarity of mental health diagnosis, treatment, and resources for recovery.

Pass required background checks.

Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Willing to work evenings and one weekend day.

One year of professional Psychiatric Inpatient experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Familiarity with issues related to homelessness

Ability to maintain strong professional boundaries

Understanding of Trauma-Informed Care principles and service provision

Working knowledge of Washington State Involuntary Treatment Act

Good communication skills, teamwork, and attitude

Multicultural awareness

Ability to adapt, flexibility

Other:

Must have a valid Washington state driver's license and reliable transportation with current insurance

Complete CPI Training Course within 90 days of hire.

Working Conditions

Work is performed inside and outside in varying temperatures. Employee may occasionally be required to push or lift to 40 pounds. May be exposed to office supply odors or vapors. Employee is sitting, most of the time. Employee is also required to stand, walk, type, bend, write, read, interpret, and explain complex issues and speak on the telephone.
