The Mental Health Clinician will provide direct clinical services to children with emotional disturbance who attend the The Wilder School Alternative Program. Clinical services will be provided within the classroom milieu and through individual psycho-therapeutic intervention. This position will work in partnership with educators and clinical staff to implement educational and therapeutic interventions with the students. Ongoing training and supervision will be provided by the Hartford School District Clinical Director and the principal of The Wilder School. The Wilder School Alternative Program is an educational therapeutic program serving students, grades 2 through 8, from the Hartford Area Regional Collaborative member schools. Students with severe behavioral disabilities are referred to the Wilder School by the member supervisory unions. The goal of The Wilder School Alternative Program is to collaborate with the student and the family to meet each student's academic, social and emotional needs. Intensive and comprehensive education and mental health services are provided using a family centered approach. Services are highly individualized and include active parents and school partnerships. The program seeks to assist students in acquiring the skills necessary to form and maintain relationships and to be successful in a school setting.
