Position Summary The Medical Staff Specialist manages the credentials of medical staff members and allied health professionals to ensure the highest quality patient care within the Hospital and compliance with TJC and other regulatory agencies. Coordinates and supports the functioning of the Medical Staff Services Department. Core Duties and Responsibilities Knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws and associated manuals Accurately complies with department credentialing requirements for processing appointments and reappointment applications of Medical Staff and Allied Health professionals Maintains current database for physicians and healthcare assistants by becoming efficient in the use of the database program Completes verification requests for other institutions for physicians and allied health professionals Responsible for the mailing and tracking of applications Ability to interface intelligently with physicians, board members and hospital personnel Responsible for accurately filing documents in a timely manner Ensures compliance with JCAHO and state regulations. Serves as resource person in the Medical Affairs Department Requirements High School Graduate, Associates Degree preferred 2 years of experience in Credentialing Must be detail oriented Knowledge of ECHO software, The Joint Commission and CMS standards preferred Experience with transcription and Dictaphone preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office Ability to follow up on pending documentation in a very timely fashion and document timeline of inquiries Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of staff within the organization, physicians and vendors Excellent interpersonal skills Additional information perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
