Job Purpose

The Medical Lead is a subject matter expert (SME) that supervises other SMEs and provides technical and practical knowledge of medical field to effectively lead Honda and contract staff innovate, design, and improve systems, processes, equipment, and tools to improve the Medical Management characteristics. Medical Leads develop effective relationships between site leadership, safety team members, early intervention service providers, clinic nurses and physicians that facilitate a culture of collaboration and fosters and inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are embraced. Medical Lead develop special knowledge of the injury and illness prevention process, individual associate accommodation strategies, and compliance recordkeeping that contribute to business objectives. Site leads monitor local service provider contracts and medical-theme business plan implementation to rotate the PDCA process.



Key Accountabilities

  • Manages and supervises placement leader and contract teams. Provides leadership and direction to early intervention service providers, clinic nurses and physicians, placement leaders, and OSHA recordkeepers. Develop and monitor local service provider contracts and medical themed business plan implementation to rotate PDCA process improvements. Takes accountability for own actions but is actively working to build teamwork and trust between peers. Seeks to understand the background and experiences of others and consistently demonstrates respect for the individual.
  • Understands the company and department work strategy and leads medical program activity. Applies medical "windows of care" theory and has multiskilled knowledge of regional technologies and workflows. Understands basic cost drivers and follows appropriate management principles. Collaborates with other site leaders and internal and external team members to seek out opportunities that expand the team's working network and accomplishes the unit's goals.
  • Supports the Medical Unit Lead and prioritizes work tasks and minimizes outside influences and distractions. Sets attainable but challenging targets and manages plans by routinely applying PCDA. Identifies high value initiatives and directs the team towards continuous improvement.
  • Presents key issues and information to local and department leaders. Effectively communicates through both written and verbal channels. Conducts meetings in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Seeks feedback and knowledge beyond one's assigned area. Applies lessons learned and shares experiences with others. Provides timely guidance and feedback with peers to help accomplish a task or solve a problem.



Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Management, Medical-related field (Nursing) or Honda relevant experience
  • 5+ years
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Registered Nurse (RN) licensure from the State Board of Nursing, preferred but not required.
  • Computer knowledge and efficiency in Microsoft Office programs, as well as windows-based systems.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Skills in data collection, data analysis and outcome reporting as it relates to care team.
  • Ability to create innovative solutions to problems/issues.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple demands.
  • Ability to motivate and direct team members to achieve stated objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
