This position is eligible for a sign on bonus of up to $10,000. Job Summary: Responsible for analyzing, evaluating and interpreting various specimens for the detection, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of medical conditions. Responsibilities Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of patient specimens according to established procedures. Perform specimen collection and other specimen handling duties as needed. Operate complex biomedical electronic instrumentation including calibration, maintenance, quality assurance and troubleshooting. Perform and analyze quality control procedures including daily testing, recording, problem resolution and compiling reports to assure accuracy of all results. Review and verify the accuracy of tests results before entering in information system. Maintain a proper inventory of supplies needed in order to provide continuous service, minimizing downtime. Evaluate test results for accuracy, reportability and clinical significance and report accordingly. Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars, in-services and reading journals. Evaluate new methodologies and instrumentation under the guidance of the Section Chief and report findings and recommendations. Assume supervisory responsibilities in absence of Department Head. Orient and train new employees/students. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Specifications: MLT: An Associates degree in Medical lab Technology and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI License and ASCP/AMT is also required. MT: A Bachelors degree in Medical technology or Specific Science and a minimum of six months job-related experience or equivalent is required. RI License and ASCP or NCA is also required.
