Banyan Treatment Centers is recruiting a Medical Director to join our treatment team in Texas. Our center in Waelder, TX provides services to a primary substance use disorder population.

The Medical Director is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of patient care. They also provide the development and evaluation of mid-level personnel and maintain the optional medical aspects of the patient care unit.

Essential Functions:

Participates in Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings.
Evaluating the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
Assists in formulating standards for patient policies and procedures.
Promotes good public relations between program and medical department.
Works in collaboration with the Clinical Director, Director of Nursing, and Medical Director on significant patient developments.
Providing primary care and Medical / Psychiatric Treatment.
Evaluate behavioral problems and diagnosis, and make treatment decisions, in collaboration with medical team.
Ordering consults for other medical specialties as needed.
Providing Utilization Review with the detailed information needed for the appropriate level of care of the patient.
Ensuring continuity of care through the use of foresight in directing, controlling, planning and organizing patient care.
Communicating with family and health professionals concerning the care of patients.
Assists in reporting infection control incidents to Performance Team and Risk Management.
Ensure that any client that is in need of urgent psychiatric care abides by state requirements (if applicable) and that the client is placed in an appropriate facility for such care.
Assists in ensuring State and Federal regulations, and accreditation standards are met and maintained.
Maintains regular contact with all clinical staff and update them on patient progress and other issues.
Abides by the state provisions regarding the confidentiality of alcohol and drug treatment records and all other applicable federal and state laws.
Demonstrates ability to work with Substance Abuse clients.

Preferences:

Work experience in the field of substance-use disorder treatment or mental health.

Qualifications:

Licensed to practice as a Physician in the State of Texas.
Unencumbered DEA license.
5 or more years of Medical or Psychiatric experience.
Doctorate which includes clinical training in a health care specialty area.
Board Certified, preferably by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology.
