We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Brookhaven at Lexington, a continuing care retirement community. This position plays a crucial role in providing quality healthcare services to our independent living residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to resident care, exceptional communication skills, and a thorough understanding of medical assisting principles and practices.

Schedule: M-TH - day shift

Hours: 32 hours

Responsibilities:

Clinical Support: Assist healthcare providers in delivering nursing support to residents, including but not limited to taking vital signs, preparing examination rooms, preparing lab specimen orders and other lab support, and assisting with medical procedures including wound care as directed.
Medication Management: Administer medications and treatments under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals, communicating with pharmacy as directed and ensuring adherence to established protocols and safety standards.
Health Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for residents, including documenting vital signs, medications administered, and other pertinent information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations by promptly assessing residents' conditions, initiating appropriate interventions, and coordinating with healthcare team members and emergency services as needed.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant Massachusetts state and federal regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures pertaining to healthcare services and documentation.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, to optimize resident care and outcomes.
Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols and procedures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases within the community, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment, and environmental sanitation.
Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Current certification as a Medical Assistant.
1-3 years' experience preferred.
Previous experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably with geriatric or long-term care experience.
Basic computer skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
Demonstrated commitment to resident-centered care and maintaining confidentiality.
