Education Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science OR Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science OR Associate's degree in another discipline with documented chemistry and biology hours that satisfy CLIA requirements for high complexity testing personnel. OR Have previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under 493.1489; (4) On or before April 24, 1995 be a high school graduate or equivalent and have either - (i) Graduated from a medical laboratory or clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by ABHES, CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS; or (ii) Successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory procedures training course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician). Required Certifications/License Medical Laboratory Scientist certification by ASCP or AMT, or HEW(MT), or equivalent certification is required within one year from date of hire. Training/Certification prior to 1988 -Certification program or Military training, ASCP or HEW certification is accepted. copy of highest diploma/degree required on or before first day of employment. Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
