Be a part of our future in space. We are looking for you in this rare Trainer position supporting operations at NASA Michoud Assembly Facility, New Orleans LA. This position is 100% On-site ONLY. The Mechanical Systems Trainer will create, maintain, and deliver material to train and certify personnel on the safe operation of mechanical support systems at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. Job Responsibilities Create and maintain training material for the safe operation of mechanical production support equipment, including but not limited to:
self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs), e.g., Wheelift systems
overhead crane operation and rigging
powered industrial trucks (PIT), e.g. electrical and internal combustion forklifts, pallet lifts, and motorized hand trucks
personnel lifts, including: scissor lifts, boom lifts, and single person lifts
scaffolding assembly and utilization
fall protection.
production operations, such as: application of Alodine for corrosion resistance, sealants, clickbonds, and safetying equipment (Lockwire and safety cables, wrist straps)
torque wrench operation
Review user, operation and maintenance manuals to create training and certification material
Perform in-classroom and on-the-job/hands-on training of production personnel
Test personnel and certify that personnel are able to safely and effectively operate equipment. Perform refresher training for skill re-certification.
Interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc. to accomplish assigned work.
Ensure that all equipment is used in accordance with established safety and operating procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Must have High School Diploma or higher.
This position requires the ability to obtain badging for NASA facility access.
MUST be US Citizen for government contract compliance.
This is a sensitive/safety-sensitive position and is subject to NASA (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing.
This position requires the ability to perform manual labor inside or outside throughout the year in a variety of extreme weather conditions.
The employee must meet medical requirement for work in geographic areas.
The employee must be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
Must be able to work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays.
Mission requirements and/or workload may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime. Desired Qualifications: Previous experience in a NASA or other government manufacturing environment.
Experience with administering training events in a complex environment
Experience with the Boeing Learning management System
Experience managing projects.

Excellent communications skills, both oral and written.
