4-6 months contract assignment
Pay Rate: up to $80.00 per hour (based on proven work history)
Job Summary of the Mechanical Systems Design Engineer - Temporary:
The Mechanical Systems Engineer - Temporary is responsible for the design, development, and execution of core mechanical systems architecture and components. The individual will be responsible for defining and documenting, overall mechanical architecture, being design responsible for key mechanical systems, and overseeing validation of those components and systems.
Responsibilities of the Mechanical Systems Design Engineer - Temporary:
Apply mechanical knowledge of engineering principles and practices specifically for energy storage applications, including battery cell module design; system design, and associated electronic assemblies
Development of new product designs from prototype to production considering application, cost, weight, performance, thermodynamics, reliability, manufacturing, assembly, and field serviceability
Develops architectural drawings and definitions for mechanical systems, and wiring diagrams to perform systems integration and validation for the development and mass production of battery solutions
Specifies components (cold plates, piping, cooling components, cooling accessories, etc.) and ensures products meets internal and customer requirements
Participates in and supports modeling of thermal systems
Furthers the teams' capabilities specific to HVAC, Cooling, and Fluid systems
Develops system designs, including actual CAD design of these systems
Develops mechanical system DFMEAs, WCA, DFM, etc.
Evaluates supplier specifications & validation data to ensure selection of the proper suppliers
Key contributor in the evaluation of prospective suppliers
Develops mechanical system DVP&Rs for integration into or support of overall ABS system DVP&Rs
Supports all prototype system builds ensuring parts are on time
Troubleshooting any issues with mechanical systems
Contributes to team growth by completing projects in a timely manner
Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures
Adhere to federal and state regulations
Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Position Qualifications of the Mechanical Systems Design Engineer - Temporary:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent degree
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in large-scale power systems or similar mechanical systems; packaging, modeling, thermal, HVAC, and overall large-scale system design
Experience in seismic requirements and electrical safety for Grid utility applications to meet IEE and obtain seismic certifications
Experience in designing products intended for harsh outdoor environments complying with Nema/IP ratings and certifications
Proficient in SolidWorks or similar CAD tools and wiring packages
Adept in data processing and statistical analysis
Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical test data to internal and external customers, as well as effectively communicating with suppliers
Experienced with the handling of high voltage lithium-ion battery systems
Educated on common Energy Storage industry test certifications
Familiar with the product design process
Self-motivated problem-solver who pays attention to details
Challenges the status quo and strives for continuous improvement
Abides by safety standards and protocols
