What you'll be doing:

  • Design and develop tools, jigs, fixtures, and other equipment used in manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet performance requirements, ergonomic standards, and safety regulations.
  • Optimize machining processes, including milling, turning, drilling, and grinding, to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to select appropriate cutting tools, abrasives, and other tooling materials based on machining requirements, material properties, and cost considerations.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software to create 3D models, simulate machining operations, and generate tool paths for CNC machines.
  • Develop prototypes and conduct testing to evaluate the performance of new tooling designs and machining processes, iterating as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Conduct cost analysis and feasibility studies to evaluate the economic impact of tooling and machining process improvements, balancing performance requirements with budget constraints.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions through the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other improvement tools.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to establish and maintain rigorous quality standards for tooling and machining processes, implementing measures to prevent defects and ensure product conformity.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling designs, machining parameters, and process documentation. Generate regular reports to track performance metrics and communicate results to stakeholders.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience working in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on tooling design and machining process optimization.
  • Strong technical knowledge of machining processes, including milling, turning, drilling, grinding, and CNC programming.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA, for tool design and simulation.
  • Seeking candidates with Motion Studies experience
  • Experience with CNC machining equipment and programming, including knowledge of G-code programming language.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other continuous improvement techniques.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented approach to driving process improvements and achieving operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to the manufacturing industry.
