Responsible for the installation and maintenance upkeep of all equipment and machinery. Follow "trouble shooting" techniques to diagnose equipment breakdowns and make necessary corrections. Build, dismantle, weld and reassemble mechanical parts using hand and power tools as necessary. Use machine tools. Design, modify and fabricate equipment as assigned. Do rigging, when necessary, both in the relocation of existing equipment and in the installation of new equipment. Do necessary plumbing, pipe fitting and sheet metal work as assigned. Do all types of acetylene, electric (arc) welding and brazing as required to fabricate or repair equipment and related facilities. Read and interpret blueprints and sketches. Use scales, calipers, micrometers and machine tools in the performance of assigned duties. Take care of tools and equipment. Maintain good housekeeping in assigned work areas. Perform minor machining, such as boring sprockets and cutting keys. This description covers the major elements of the job classification and does not necessarily include reasonable secondary tasks of an occasional or minor nature necessary to the performance of the job.
