Serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Hospital is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by JCAHO, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.

Position Summary: This position allows for a teacher to access the different levels of educational accomplishments for individual patients at the adolescent Inhalant Program. Additional goals are to lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation.

Position Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor of Education required. Special Education field of study preferred.
  • Minimum Experience: Five years classroom experience required, ten years preferred. Computer assisted teaching experience required, Renaissance Learning Curriculum experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate Required, Special Education endorsement preferred. Alaska Driver's License required. Must have or obtain CPR, Basic First Aid, and Non-Violent Crises Intervention certification within three months of employment.
  • Equipment/Tools/Word-Aids: Experience with Windows based systems preferred.
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of a specific area such as art, dance, music, crafts or Native American culture preferred.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide direction to teacher and teacher aides as required.
