Job Details

Position Overview
This role is central to the efficient management of our operational materials, focusing on the upkeep and coordination of our GMP-certified storage facilities and inventory systems, as well as supporting laboratory supplies and procurement processes. The individual will serve under the guidance of the Senior Laboratory Services Manager in a contractual capacity.

Key Duties
  • Administer the routine processes of our materials storage areas, ensuring tasks such as the receipt, categorization, and safekeeping of specialized and general items, inventory control, secure and accurate dispatching of materials, and the physical security of the storage areas are conducted effectively.
  • Take charge of the complete materials management lifecycle within our GMP-compliant storage facilities.
  • Handle the oversight of inventory and raw material management.
  • Procure necessary materials to sustain laboratory functions.
  • Utilize forecasting tools to aid in inventory planning.
  • Foster a safety-first mindset within all storage and laboratory settings.
  • Manage the intake, logging, storage, and care of materials and supplies in line with standard operating procedures, paying particular attention to the handling of items that are temperature-sensitive or classified as hazardous.
  • Adapt inventory supply and Kanban requests according to changing needs and demands.
  • Set up and maintain protocols for minimum stock levels and reorder triggers.
  • Organize and maintain records and the arrangement of ambient and refrigerated storage.
  • Address alerts from storage facility equipment around the clock, relocating materials as necessary and documenting actions according to protocol.
  • Comply with OSHA and other regulatory standards relevant to storage operations.
  • Ensure standard storage tasks such as preparation, inventory auditing, receipt, warehousing, sequestration, and material clearance adhere to procedural guidelines.
  • Spearhead enhancements in storage and inventory management based on analytical assessments and identified improvements.
  • Collaborate extensively with key internal stakeholders such as Project Leaders, laboratory personnel, Facilities, Procurement, and Quality Assurance teams to guarantee seamless laboratory operations.
  • Monitor and report on storage operations, employing metrics and performance indicators.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance department to draft, modify, and review procedural documentation.
  • Investigate deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed.
  • Manage or assist in quality audits and operational excellence projects.
  • Take on additional tasks as required by organizational demands.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of three years in a role focused on warehouse or materials management, with a preference for those experienced in GMP storage operations.
  • Proficiency with standard operating procedures and cGMPs is essential.
  • Experience in managing domestic and international shipments through major couriers in line with IATA standards.
  • Should have or be willing to obtain IATA certification for handling hazardous materials, with ongoing training provided.
  • Knowledgeable about CFR Titles 21 and 49, along with European GMP standards.
  • Competent in computer-based inventory systems and procurement processes.
  • Practical skills in handling shipments are necessary.

Physical Demands
  • The candidate must be capable of reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and gripping frequently.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Willingness to work in varied temperature conditions, including periodic work in cold storage environments.
  • The role involves frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of items up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular engagement in reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, and fine motor activities.
  • Comfort in handling hazardous materials and operating warehouse machinery, including forklifts and pallet jacks, is required.
