Duties Receive freight, checks for completeness, identification, amount and condition. Operate a forklift which is capable of lifting loads weighing less than 50,000 pounds. Drive/operate truck tractor and semi-trailer combination units (10-52 ton). Transport articles and materials both on and off post, load and unload cargo and materials as necessary, ensure vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Safety boots required. Forklift Certification within 60 days of employment required. Physical required; up to 40 lbs lifting may be required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License to operate a vehicle to drive to work sites. Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT Work involves heavy lifting and carrying of objects up to 40 pounds. Physical capabilities such as reaching, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling and climbing are also job requirements. The operation of motor vehicles is necessary by incumbent. WORKING CONDITIONS Works primarily inside but may be required to work outside when transporting items from one location to another. Works in a warehouse which may be poorly lighted, cold, damp, drafty and may be exposed to dust, dirt, and grease. The possibility of cuts, bruises, strains and falls from ladders or conveyances could occur. May also be exposed to injuries while driving, loading or unloading vehicles. Working closely with other employees to accomplish assignments will be required. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a(n) Career Field position.
