Duties You will independently plan, layout the work to be done, select the proper tools, determine methods/materials to be used, and accomplish the work in accordance with approved methods. You will interrupt blueprints, drawings, specifications, surveys, work orders, or sketches. You will install/arrange reinforcement steel or wire mesh to obtain maximum strength, control joints, expansion and contraction joints. You will perform complex brickwork. You will ensure courses are laid evenly and that completed work blends with existing brickwork. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current respirator certification. This position may be job sited. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A MASON WITH OUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION INCLUDING: 1) Lay a variety of brick, block, and stone (e.g. firebrick, structural tile, concrete blocks, glass blocks, terra cotta and artificial and natural stone) to repair items such as partitions, walls, walkways, manholes, boilers, catch basins, chimneys, and fireplaces; 2) Work from oral instructions, blueprints, work orders, and rough sketches to complete assigned tasks; 3) Use a variety of hand and power tools such as trowels, mixers, chisels, hammers, crowbars, brick or skill saws, axes, and picks to remove or prepare walls for repair and cut and shape brick and stone.
