Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Public Health AmeriCorps Program The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Public Health AmeriCorps Program plans to have a continuation of 6 AmeriCorps members who will focus on the CNCS focus area of Disaster Services in the Public Health arena within the 5-County Contract Health Service Delivery Area of Barnstable, Bristol, Norfolk, Plymouth and Suffolk Counties. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for public health and disaster service aspects of prevention, preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. The AmeriCorps members will also be responsible for various environmental stewardship roles and community service projects. After their year of service, 6 AmeriCorps members may pursue future opportunities in the areas of; public health, emergency preparedness and environmental stewardship. Member Duties : Public health aspects; delivering PPE supplies, organizing Covid-19 supplies and equipment in warehouse, working with Cape Cod AmeriCorps and local community groups on various projects, training community members in health and safety related initiatives, assisting in EOC and EM Dept., potential collaboration projects with IHS - Disaster services aspects; cutting/delivering wood to elders and vulnerable, snow removal of Elders and vulnerable, Volunteering within the Departments in our Tribal Government Operations, First Responder Training, Wild Firefighter Training, Storm prep & hurricane preparedness at Elders and vulnerable houses (pre/post storm yard/home prep & cleanup, trimming branches that can be fallen and a safety hazard or damage to properties), and Various Local Projects around the community and with neighboring Tribes including; tribal property considerations, cultural site, farm, aqua culture, trail and river restoration.
