Summary:

Marine Construction Superintendentis the direct supervisor of construction field crews. The Superintendent is also responsible for equipment, logistics, report writing, and client liaison activities in connection with construction projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

  • Oversee and work in the day to day operations of marine construction project from beginning to end including materials, equipment and crew logistics.
  • Experience in Marine Contracting, Dredging, Excavation, operating marine vessels.
  • Meet with project owner and subcontractors as necessary
  • Proficient in interpreting plans, specifications and permits
  • Manage and coordinate all work to ensure project meets specifications outlined in the statement of work and other contract documents and understand the scope of work for each subcontractor who will be performing work on the project
  • Ensure the practice of safety standards in accordance with OSHA and MOSHA
  • Responsible for meeting project milestones and deadlines and maintain an accurate schedule in conjunction with the project manager
  • Ensure proper maintenance of tools and jobsite cleanliness
  • Maintain a daily log
  • Computer and communication skills
  • OSHA 30 Card, MDE RCP Card, SHA Yellow Card are a plus
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Manage logistics for crews, crane barges, and tugboats
  • Development of hazard analysis for projects
  • Review of safe work practices with labor force prior to project commencement
  • Holding daily safety meetings with crew
  • Documentation of daily safety meetings
  • Accident investigation and reporting
  • Performing routine safety inspections
  • Collaborate with Project team, Equipment, Means and Methods or other Equipment Division managers to ensure proper coordination & arrival of equipment to sites
  • As a member of the Operations Team, participate in the management of daily operational issues, including long-term planning and resource coordination, identifying and improving procedures, project staffing and ongoing project support
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five (5) years or more of experience as a Superintendent
  • Five (5) years or more of supervisory experience
  • Valid Driver's License with good driving record to qualify driving a company vehicle
  • Ability to pass background checks by various Federal Agencies (e.g. DOD, DHS, FAA, etc.) to obtain security access badges
  • Strong knowledge of marine construction, estimating materials, processes, and equipment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam
  • Working remotely or from may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in maritime construction
  • US Army Core OF Engineers Experience

Work Environment

  • While outdoors may be subject to construction site conditions, confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions and noise levels.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent sitting for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, reaching with hands and arms for items above and below desk level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place.
  • While in the field reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment and other materials
  • Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment.
