Job Description
About the role:

The Manufacturing Technician I executes processes in production at Takeda's manufacturing facility in Round Lake, Illinois, while strictly following cGMP, environmental health and safety guidelines and any other related regulations that apply. You will participate in both departmental projects and any quality working teams which may be applicable. Responsibilities include hands-on execution of all activities in the production area. Work is done under the general direction of the Lead technician and the direction of the Supervisor.


How you will contribute:
  • Maintain a safe & quality working environment.
  • Support manufacturing operations in Inspection and Packaging.
  • Inspect manufactured product for irregularities or defects.
  • Supplies components, small parts, glassware, tubing to manufacturing areas.
  • Operate general production equipment (SIT, DAP, pallet jacks).
  • Complete relevant paperwork following GDP/GMP guidelines.
  • Manually clean all portable equipment and small parts.
  • Participate on Continuous Improvement Teams.
  • Receive and distribute supplies into the production area.
  • Perform daily cleaning of the production area to maintain in GMP fashion.
  • Help with troubleshooting process problems.
  • Follow cGMP, environmental health and safety guidelines, and any other regulations.
  • Communicate issues related to safety, quality, compliance and equipment to the manufacturing lead operator and supervisor.
  • Will speak detailed written and oral instructions in English.
  • Meet the deadlines of individual production tasks during shift.
  • Follow our safety and quality requirements. Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures.

What you bring to Takeda:
  • High School diploma or GED plus 1+ years of related experience or AA degree or higher with no prior experience required.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. You may:

  • Must be willing to work 12 hour shifts according to rotating 2-2-3 yearly shift calendar: day shift 5am - 5:30 pm.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • In general, your work will be a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions of the facility.
  • Will stand and walk for an extended period over a 12-hour shift between rooms and across the site.
  • Repetitive motions with hands, wrists, turning head, bending at knees and waist.
  • 20/20 near and distance vision (Applies to roles performing visual inspection only) with or without glasses and contacts.
  • May not be colorblind (Applies to roles performing visual inspection only).
  • Indoor working conditions.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn due to safety, cGMP and FDA requirements.
  • May work in a confined area.
  • May work with some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.
  • May require immunization before performing work within the manufacturing area.
  • May work with and must not be allergic to cephalosporin.
  • May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • May work in a cold, hot or wet environment.
  • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
  • Will work on multiple shifts, including weekends and holidays, to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Will work non-traditional work hours, including weekends and holidays, overtime.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:

$16.15 - $25.38

The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.


U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term incentives.
