Job Overview and Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will primarily focus on enhancing manufacturing processes and ensuring smooth operations within the shop. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Innovating and refining manufacturing techniques.
  • Participating in the recruitment, training, and development of staff.
  • Providing troubleshooting support and implementing solutions for shop activities.
  • Implementing process enhancements using methodologies like Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
  • Maintaining electronic records of processes and materials.
  • Analyzing workforce allocation, space utilization, and workflow efficiency, and optimizing equipment layout.
  • Collaborating with product development teams to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Liaising with suppliers to determine product specifications and coordinate equipment/material purchases.
  • Estimating production timelines, staffing needs, and associated costs.
  • Collaborating with management and engineering teams to streamline production processes.
  • Utilizing statistical methods to forecast future manufacturing needs and potentials.
  • Contributing to cost reduction and continuous improvement efforts.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control and mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to interpret various forms of instructions effectively.
  • Proficiency in using software such as databases, design tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen methodologies is advantageous.


Required Experience/Education:
Candidates should meet one of the following criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from a four-year university.
  • Two to five years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.


Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
This role entails a mix of office and manufacturing floor work environments. Physical demands may include:

  • Sitting frequently, with occasional walking and standing.
  • Visual acuity for tasks such as close and distance vision, color perception, and depth focus.
  • Regular use of hands for handling materials.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds.


Safety Equipment:
Safety glasses and shoes, along with other designated personal protective equipment, are required for this role.
