Job Description Description:
JOB PURPOSE: To evaluate the entire manufacturing system in a continuous effort to improve by analyzing current processes, systems, and product designs for elimination of waste and recommend potential areas for improvement.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:- Must be willing to continue learning new production methods by reading, studying, attending seminars, and participating in group discussion.
- Improve labor utilization by auditing the current standard against the planned standard and recommend areas for potential improvement; then update the standard to reflect this improvement.
- Prepares work standards and operator guidelines by writing or updating policies, procedures, and work methods.
- Gather information and make improvements throughout the manufacturing system by sending a majority of their time on the plant floor documenting current conditions, analyzing the system for improvements and Kaizen events.
- Contribute to the overall team effort by accomplishing other duties that may be directed by Manufacturing Engineering Manager or other managers.
- Assist or project manage the implementation of new equipment on production floor by gathering technical information, specifications, and capital justification.
- Contribute to release and manufacture of new product by participating in prototype and pilot builds, design review and work method implementation.
Requirements:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering or related degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar manufacturing environment required.
- Personal computer skills such as CAD, spreadsheet software, access or other database software.
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Must adapt to changing situations and work tasking.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Co-op manufacturing experience is a plus particularly in a Pull Production System.
