The Position
The CMR Business Planning & Strategy Manager will be responsible for facilitating the creation and management of financial budgets and resource strategies for a VP Function of the Clinical Development, Medical & Regulatory Affairs (CMR) Business Unit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong grasp on budgeting, staffing & capacity management as they relate to short- and long-term forecasting within CMR. The incumbent will ensure the timely delivery, accuracy, and transparency of budget(s) to their VP stakeholder and/or business partner as required. They will also ensure budget and resource strategies are being followed, in alignment with NNI or CMR strategies.
The CMR Business Planning & Strategy Manager will need to build strong relationships with their stakeholders and/or business partners and will be required to participate and present at cross-Functional VP meetings in order to provide budget and resource updates. The incumbent will also need a strong mindset of continuous improvement and always be looking for efficiencies and improvements to the budget process and resource strategies, especially in the areas of standardization, digitalization, and implementation of best practices.
Relationships
The Manager, reports to the Director, CMR Business Planning & Strategy. The incumbent works closely with associate directors, directors, VPs, and other senior leadership across the organization, including Legal, Finance, and other Functions within Clinical Medical and Regulatory (CMR).
Essential Functions
Facilitates the creation and management of budgets and resource strategies within a VP Functional area of Clinical Development, Medical & Regulatory AffairsWorks with business partners inside and outside of CMR to ensure resource strategies are being implemented into their responsible VP area and monitors progress throughout the year. This includes following local and HQ level models, strategies, or initiatives, as requiredAbility to interpret resource projections and challenge resource requests to ensure demand is met while maintaining acceptable tolerancesEnsures accuracy and transparency of VP operating budgets by following company budget timelines and by conducting accruals, chargebacks, and reallocations as requiredCreates budget and resource reports with variance commentary, including identified risks and opportunities, and presents to the VP area on at least a monthly basisResponsible for providing financial and FTE data to Finance Business Partners at assigned frequencies, including annual budget (AB), month end, rolling estimate (RE), and long range (e.g 3-5yr)Ability to identify and pursue new ideas, solutions, methods or opportunities; foster innovation through appropriate risk-taking and experimentationAbility to quickly adapt to changing situations while ensuring alignment of deliverables across business unitsServes as an expert in Scientific Resource Management on company key policies and processes related to financial assumptions, KPIs and milestonesParticipates in UAT and facilitates implementation of new budget and resourcing tools (e.g. Workfront)Physical Requirements

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required with a focus in Finance, Business Administration, or similarMBA preferredMinimum of 6 years of experience required; direct experience handling resource plans or budgets a plusDemonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environmentAbility to manage short- and long-term priorities while working with time sensitive deadlinesExcellent communication skills and ability to speak to all levels of an organizationAbility to problem solve and present solutions.
