Advertised Position Title: Manager, Truck Driving Program Job Description: Coordinates the operation of the truck driving training program. Set dates for classes and assign instructors. Recruits students and corporate partners. Maintain constant communication with funding agencies and potential employers. Manage instructor database. Assure instructor's certification has not expired, keep track of instructor availability, hours worked and keep track of which instructors can teach certain components of classes. Meet with trucking company representatives to build relationships, determine needs and provide connectivity between OCC grads and employers. Ensure trucks are up to code with the department of transportation. Essential Functions: Coordinates the operation of the truck driver training program. Set dates for classes and assign instructors. Recruit's students and corporate partners. Maintain constant communication with funding agencies and potential employers. Presents to groups and individuals about CDL classes/careers, including job and education fair information tables. Create/maintain a thorough FAQ document that allows WCS staff, once trained, to answer most questions of students even when coordinator is unavailable. Meet with trucking company representatives to build relationships, determine needs and provide connectivity between OCC grads and employers. Assures that student is fully prepared to begin CDL training and not disqualified for some reason. Help students determine that truck driving is the right career choice for them. Work with subject matter expert and instructional designer as needed to create and update quality curriculum - including instructor guides and student materials. Periodically discuss regulation changes that impact curriculum and make sure the curriculum is updated accordingly. Initiates these conversations with the subject matter experts. Prepare and update all messaging (ie. website) relating to CDL classes. Manage instructor database. Assure instructor's certification has not expired, keep track of instructor availability, hours worked and keep track of which instructors can teach certain components of classes. Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of truck driving programs. Working knowledge of rules and regulations that governs program is preferred. Strong communication skills and good organizational skills. Service minded, people oriented, problem solving oriented. Ability to work independently and without supervision. Ability to cultivate robust relationships with external providers such as workforce development providers, community-based organizations, employers, secondary schools, and other institutions focused on supporting individuals in the truck driving program. Ability to work effectively in widely varying environments. Professional demeanor and effective communication skills. Ability to work with a cross section of college employees. Maintain excellent relationship with veteran-related organizations/agencies, as well as dealing with criminal background issues of students. Minimum Requirements: Up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school. Experience in recruiting and public speaking. Knowledge of truck driving programs. CDL class A license preferred.
