Job Summary Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is made up of a multidisciplinary team of Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Mental Health Professionals, Medical Assistants, Administrative Staff and Clinical/Administrative Managers. These professionals work together to provide, to The System, a gold standard of care regarding effective treatment to support Memorial Hermann patients in an effort to connect the patient to the most appropriate level of care. Our goal is to increase access to behavioral health treatment services, promote better health outcomes for patients with chronic or urgent mental health treatment needs by utilizing empirically validated interventions, decrease unnecessary ER visits, and decrease incarcerations. Job Description Minimum Qualifications Education: Master's Degree in Social Work or Master's Degree in Counseling or a related field. Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Clinical Social Worker ( LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) and licensure with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council. Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Four (4) years psychiatric/healthcare field experience required, and Two (2) years of supervisory experience (can be concurrent) Experienced in completing a Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessment, to assess any patient's psychosocial risk factors through evaluation of current and prior functioning levels, patient's mental health history, severity of psychiatric symptoms, appropriateness and adequacy of support systems, reaction to illness, and ability to cope. Demonstrates the knowledge involved of best practices in the risk assessments for suicide and homicide. Effective use of the role of the Diagnostic Statistical Manuel (DSM-V) in diagnosing mental illness. Demonstrated knowledge of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care providers in order to efficiently direct patients to appropriate psychiatric levels of care. Experience in using best practices in coordinating front-line clinical operations and providing guidance to clinicians Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills to enhance & maintain positive relations with senior management, physicians, outside agencies/organizations, and staff across all disciplines. Has working knowledge of hospital and healthcare processes involving physicians/health care teams, health system leadership structure, BHS Business Model, customers and MHHS stakeholders. Maintain clinician annual core competencies in: HIPAA/Privacy, Cultural Competence, Information Security Awareness, Domestic Violence, Levels of Care, Medications, Substance Use, DSM, Suicide/Homicide Assessments, and Psychiatric Emergencies. Basic understanding of how to utilize data to inform operational decisions Openness to working with people of all social, economic, and cultural backgrounds; being open-minded and adaptable to change. Demonstrate the ability to connect patients and families with necessary services, both inside and outside the MHHS network. Some knowledge of services available in the local community, particularly services available to patients with limited or non-existent payment resources. Demonstrate patience and tact when dealing with clients, other staff, and MHHS stakeholders. Principal Accountabilities Manages the day to day operations of the BHS's Psych Response Team program (including the clinical care delivery of greater than 1000 assessments per month) or Mental Health Crisis Clinics (MHCC) (including the clinical care delivery of an ambulatory urgent care walk in clinic); while ensuring safe and quality and patient care outcomes. Identifies, Interviews, Recruits, Hires, Supervises, Trains, Counsels, Engages, Rewards, and Evaluates 24/7 front-line clinical staff. Performs, alongside AVP (MHCC), Senior Managers and/or Director (PRT), Annual Performance Appraisals of departmental staff. Creates the Psych Response Team/MHCC Clinician Schedule by the due date on a monthly basis. Ensures that there is adequate coverage for all shifts. Monitors, Tracks and Logs attendance (absences and time-off) in the Manager Log and MTS. Develops and hardwires Standard Operating Procedures for care delivery. Monitors the Psych Response Team/MHCC daily caseload of patients through active engagement with clinical teams and their respective leaders at customer hospitals. Actively participates in interdisciplinary communication and collaboration across the ambulatory or acute health system to promote best practices and increased levels of safety and reliability in BHS service delivery/patient care. Psych Response Team: Partners with BHS leadership to execute Standard Operating Procedures associated with the 3 Tier Psych Response Team Prioritization System. MHCC: Partner with BHS leadership to help increase access for patients needing further outpatient psychiatric stabilization to decrease length of time/stay needed in acute care access Collaborates with other BHS/MHMG leaders to coordinate and streamline Physician/APP operational workflows. Collaborates with BHS Educator to ensure that student interns have safe, educational and productive experience during their internships. Partners with System Information Systems to ensure current tele-psych operations remain operational at all times. Provides direct patient care as needed. Participates in the BHS On-Call Rotation; performing on-call supervisor role for weeknights and weekends as assigned. Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
