The Position

Manage 24/7 maintenance, improvements, and upgrades of building & grounds of the 54.3 acre/facility at IFP Clayton in alignment with stakeholder needs and site strategy (environmental, social & financial). Manage a team consisting of both Novo Nordisk employees and contingent workers supporting site security, café and housekeeping functions for the site.

Essential Functions

  • Coach & mentor direct reports consisting of professionals and technicians, to include assisting reports with career growth and development planning. Manage the following:
  • Building improvements and upgrades (Identification, planning, investment requests, and execution)
  • Internal & external project managers
  • Maintenance of building and grounds, to includes management of housekeeping of facilities, groundskeeping, pond maintenance, parking lots & roadways, wildlife control & signage. Proactively audit cleanliness of facility and grounds and ensures inspection readiness
  • Upkeep of 54.3-acre property and facility, to include partnering with FFEX and the NNPILP API site team for planned site expansion needs related to Site Services (Building, security, café, parking areas, impact to the grounds, etc.)
  • Security for building and grounds, including security for access to exterior entrances, critical areas, & employee safety
  • Cafeteria services, including contracts & suppliers providing food & beverage services, including but not limited to cafeteria, coffee/water service, vending machines & kiosks
  • All accounts and contracts for building functions
  • Ensure repairs, improvements, and upgrades are completed timely, accurately and in accordance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
  • Comply with FDA, EMA, and other pharmaceutical regulating agencies where applicable
  • Develop department & investment budgets and operate within the set budget
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties

  • Physical Requirements

    Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Ability to do close precision work with their hands. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting and standing) 50% of the time. May required corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials.


    Development of People

    Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.


    Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.


    Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.


    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in technical field of study from an accredited university required
    • May consider an Associate's degree in a technology-related field of study with a minimum of nine (9) years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, or building maintenance required, preferably in a pharmaceutical/regulated industry
    • May consider a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of eleven (11) years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, or building maintenance required, preferably in a pharmaceutical/regulated industry
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, or building maintenance required, preferably in a pharmaceutical/regulated industry
    • Minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory experience required
    • LEAN experience, preferably certified within Novo Nordisk framework preferred
    • Demonstrated experience in management of building and grounds in a GMP regulated environment preferred
    • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, to include managing in a Lean/cLEAN way preferred
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing
    • Demonstrated experience overseeing building improvements and upgrades requiring investment spending required
    • Demonstrated experience in managing vendor contracts >$100,000required
    • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, staff development and change management required
    • Demonstrated experience in team development and planning for the future required
    • Demonstrated communication, stakeholder management, problem solving & organization skills required
    • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing facility master plans required
