Job Purpose:


Developing and executing product and business strategy in a world of rapid technological and social change requires a highly capable, highly knowledgeable, and highly engaged team. American Honda's Sustainability & Business Development business unit is tasked with navigating the business and technology application path for Honda's future electrification and carbon neutral goals. Honda set 2050 carbon neutral goal and automotive product electrification by 2040. The team will focus on building and sustaining Honda's core brand values and enhancing brand image and competitiveness in the marketplace by innovating, incubating, selecting, developing, applying, and operating new businesses, features, products, and services with responsibility for their profitability, competitiveness, and customer satisfaction for Honda in North America.

Manager, Energy Business Development is responsible for developing Vehicle Grid Integration Business strategy, plan and execute cutting edge energy services with utility partners leveraging ChargeScape, Open Vehicle Grid Integration Platform and other partnership opportunity. Closely working with Energy System Development Unit lead, this role is responsible for researching, developing, and applying new energy services via HondaLink/AcuraEV charging services and solutions. It is accountable for the business competence of the strategies that are developed. This position is tasked to lead a unit team and daily execution and provide new value for customers through the use of managed EV charging (V1G), LCFS, other state & federal credit business and discharging (Vehicle-to-Home, Vehicle-to-Grid).

Focusing on future energy business, as well as regulatory compliance supporting the operation and providing new value to the Customer, Dealer, and American Honda Motors (AHM) , the associate leads and supports tasked plans, executes, and reports on all planning and business aspects of the energy business. Executing on responsibility is a mandatory requirement to adhere to AHM's compliance requirements and manage the sustainability of the businesses. This requires frequent coordination and review of wide-ranging information, along with regular communication with external business partners, IT team, Product Planning, Service, Quality, Sales, Finance, Customer Experience, Law, Honda Development of Manufacturing Americas, Accessory Development Division, Honda Motors, Honda Japan R&D and other pertinent business units


Key Accountabilities:

VGI Business Strategy Development: Identify energy business opportunity and market, develop hypothesis, propose strategy with timeline.
Energy Service development and its execution: Create energy service development timeline associate with new model launch. Collaborate with industry stakeholders to create new service. Develop seamless customer experience for promotion, marketing, enrolment, and operation. Set clear and measurable KPI and conduct PDCA.
Managing and guiding team to achieve energy business objective
Communication and correlation with Honda internal stakeholders, such as other Business Units in AHM, Honda Motor (Japan), Honda Motor Europe etc
Market research, features research, electricity market research, compiling and reporting pilot program results, analysis, and synthesis into future strategy.



Qualifications, Experience, Skills:


Minimum Educational Requirements:


BA/BS in Economics, Business OR equivalent work experience.
MBA is plus


Minimum Experience:


Minimum 12 years of related automotive and or utility industry experience ideally in business development, business planning and its execution
5 years of experience leading a utility program.
Experience with developing sales channels, coordination with product planning, service, quality, sales, finance, customer experience, law and other pertinent Business Units
Experience with creating financial models to predict product and service sales
Experience with complex IT project (Digital Sales, App, Server, Partner) development.
Good negotiation skills, adept at translating product value to business value.
Capable of Drafting and reviewing complex contracts, agreements, and detailed scopes-of-work

Apply feature and service enhancement, resolve any market issue after market launch


Working Conditions:


40% desk work using laptop and phone, including conference calls, communicating, reading and responding to emails, reviewing contracts, etc
