Maintenance Worker II

The City of Topeka is seeking a general facility and equipment maintenance mechanic to perform semi-skilled building, equipment and grounds construction, repair, and maintenance tasks on a variety of city-owned assets and facilities. This position works Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM. What youll do: Inspect buildings, machinery and equipment to identify the need for repair and maintenance activities. Carpentry work to repair buildings, facilities and equipment. Plumbing repair and maintenance duties such as replacement of exposed pipe, sinks and tanks, and unclogging grains. Repair and maintenance to electrical equipment. The ideal candidate possesses any combination of the following traits: A basic knowledge of mechanics and/or plumbing hand tools. Is a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, changing work environment. Has knowledge of standard safety practices. Minimum Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must possess and maintain a valid Kansas drivers license and city insurable driving record.
