Duties Supervise personnel performing plumbing, electric, air conditioning, heating, general maintenance, as well as coordinate assignments with contractors, and Facilities Maintenance. Plan, assign and inspect work in progress and upon completing to assure efficiency, economy and safety of operations. Enforce disciplinary and safety regulations and good housekeeping practices. Coordinate installation of special equipment and provide consultation on repair of medical equipment. Interpret blueprints, prepare layouts, patterns, and sketches, determine materials and equipment needed and arranges requisition. Inspect work area for removal of debris and scrap, check for cleanliness of machines and ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and secured at the end of the workday. Enforce safety, fire, and other regulations, and oversee and advise on the use of safety equipment. Train subordinates in work methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, safe practices, and the operation of new equipment. Participate in performance ratings, leave requests, disciplinary and commendatory actions, promotions, demotions, transfers, separations, and grievances. Experience as maintenance mechanic with sufficient journeyman level trade knowledge and experience to efficiently direct the work operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Security clearance level of Secret IAW Executive Order 13526 required. This position requires a pre-employment physical. All employees assigned to a Medical Treatment Facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk, and are subject to missing/required immunizations This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Position is weather essential. Employee may be required to report to work during periods of inclement weather. This position may be subject to evening, weekend and or holiday work schedules. Employee must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license and any installation and/or DOD requirements for the type vehicle being operated. Employee must obtain and maintain a Universal (types I, II and III) refrigerant handling certification as required by 40 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 82, subpart F.
