Help Duties Major duties include but are not limited to: Maintain a wide variety of building components Repair all types of roofing systems, including coping, flashing, downspouts, etc., perform all types of journeyman level carpentry; install, modify and maintain metal acoustical grid ceiling, handrails and grab bars, cubicle curtain tracks, all types of shelving and various types of floor covering; installation and maintenance of furniture; cabinet and counter top construction; and installation of various wall mounted items Read and follow blue prints, sketches and various types of assembly instructions. Use a variety of hand tools, power tools and stationary shop tools including hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, tape measure, saws, drills, sanders, utility knives, trowels, table saw, band saw, planer etc. Workload may require incumbent to change their tour of duty based on workload requirement Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Position Description Title/PD : Maintenance Mechanic/Carpenter/PD015930 Physical Requirements: Incumbent must be able to lift and carry eighty (80) pounds. Must be able to constantly climb ladders, walk, and perform light to moderate bending and stooping. During normal day to day operations, individual will be required to perform simple grasping, fine hand manipulation, reaching above shoulder height. Participation in the seasonal influenza program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). It is a requirement that all HCP to receive annual seasonal influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption for medical or religious reasons. Wearing a face mask is required when an exemption to the influenza vaccination has been granted. HCP in violation of this directive may face disciplinary action up to and including removal from federal service. HCP are individuals who, during the influenza season, work in VHA locations or who come into contact with VA patients or other HCP as part of their duties. The Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP) and Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP) provide eligible displaced VA competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
