Job Details

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: include the following

  • Oversees a highly functional PM program utilizing MP2 in conjunction with operations and maintenance staff and train the supervisors and others involved.
  • Directs the preventative maintenance process to ensure that production operations operate at maximum efficiency.
  • Manages preventative maintenance projects so that they are completed on schedule and on budget by the project personnel.
  • Work with the Shift Foremen and Maintenance Supervisor to review production scheduling and devise repair and maintenance schedules to assure minimum production loss, minimum down time, and maximum efficiency of work performance within budgetary limits.
  • Oversee that all maintenance employees (mechanics, electricians, electronics technicians, and others) have the necessary materials, tools, drawings, and inspection gauges to set up and complete their tasks within accepted work standards, Safety standards, and time limits.
  • Moves about the facilities to assist and instruct subordinate personnel, follow-up on the working general, and keep the workflow moving.
  • Work with Managers, Maintenance Supervisor, support departments, and personnel concerning numerous matters and problems such as personnel schedules, machines, maintenance, breakdowns, shortages, etc.
  • Analyze current procedures and develop new ones designed to improve production efficiency, people skills, and lower operating costs.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and mechanical repairs within a facility.
  • Attends company scheduled meetings when applicable (i.e., safety meetings, production meetings, department meetings.).
  • Informs supervision of any problems or complications that may arise
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust priorities.
  • Work closely with all members of the senior staff on safety, quality, employee development, and process improvement programs.
  • Evaluate and coordinate training needs of preventative maintenance personnel required for the current preventative maintenance processes and integrate quality and safety training standards.
  • Evaluate staffing needs of lines and maintain budgeted resources to maximize line output.
  • Responsible for coaching and guiding team members in need of development. Also responsible for delivering disciplinary process by determining what, if any, discipline is needed.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly scheduling and effective resource allocation.
  • Responsible for monitoring the performance of team members, providing feedback and documenting results through performance appraisals.
  • Effectively manage employee relations with the team and co-workers.
  • Assign duties and monitors the effectiveness of daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance efforts in the plant based on Corporate and plant preventative maintenance requirements critical measures and key feedback from team members, peers and upper management.
  • Effectively conduct team meetings.
  • Responsible for performance reports.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives across all three shifts.
  • Be able to create and promote a team environment, manage conflict, and resolve current issues.
  • Promote a team environment through supporting the maintenance team and fostering cooperation and customer service to the department's internal customers.
  • Provide a long range and strategic vision for the department that is directly in line with the goals of the facility and company as a whole.
  • Be a resource for both Supervisors and other Maintenance personnel in the accomplishment of their goals.
  • Ensures that all preventative maintenance personnel have a clear understanding of their expectations and the measurements used to gauge their performance.
  • Coordinate and interact with other departments to solve problems as needed and set plans for meeting company and plant goals.
  • Manages the department in such a way as to develop a strong team with unity on achieving goals in the most cost-efficient manner possible.

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:
  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations and all lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA requirements.
  • As an employee , you must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Formal training is not required, but in house Food Safety Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree, plus 3-4 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to effectively communicate with individuals possessing various degrees of technical expertise. Bilingual a plus

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and MP2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently. Continuous Improvement background.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises 25 employees within the Maintenance department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and recommending the hiring of a new employee, recommending the suspension upon review for termination of an existing employee and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
