SSAB Special Steels is looking for a motivated, performance-driven Multicraft Maintenance employee to join our team in the Mobile, Alabama (USA) area.

ABOUT THE POSITION

As part of the maintenance team, you will maintain all Blast & Paint equipment and buildings to keep them operating in a safe manner while eliminating downtime to maintain high utilization and reduce cost. You will complete work efficiently and safely as assigned by maintenance management team, planners, or other managers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Completing work as assigned by team leaders, planners or other managers
  • Work closely with operations department personnel to reduce downtime and improve equipment utilization
  • Help ensure outside contractor employees adhere to company and OSHA safety
  • Help enforce company policies with outside contractors and maintenance personnel
  • Correct electrical/mechanical breakdowns and work to improve process and equipment to avoid future breakdowns
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment
  • Continuously improve preventative maintenance program
  • Work shifts as required to cover manning and cross train and work in other areas
  • Enter work orders
  • Comply with all departmental/company safety programs
  • Assist with mechanical safety observation corrective actions and ensure timely completion
  • Recognize, report, avoid and, if possible, eliminate safety hazards
  • Attend monthly OSHA safety meetings and complete required safety observations
  • Drive continuous improvement projects
ABOUT YOU

Competencies and Experience

Required:
  • Mid-to-high level of hydraulic troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with pneumatic and lubrication systems and alignment of equipment
  • High level of mechanical troubleshooting of industrial equipment
  • Knowledge of transformers and their principles
  • Knowledge of level-1 PLC Control
  • Knowledge of basic control schemes; PID's, path regulators, speed control, etc
  • Working knowledge of computer systems
  • Knowledge of AC & DC drives
  • Knowledge of AC, DC, and synchronous motors
  • Knowledge of electrical power layouts, MCC's, etc
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings and layouts
Preferred:
  • Profibus/Profinet protocol knowledge
Education

Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of heavy industrial maintenance experience
or
  • At least a two-year degree in electrical or mechanical technology and 1 year of heavy industrial maintenance experience
