Machinist Salary: $26.39/hr. Location: Orlando, FL (fully on-site) Industry: Government/Defense Employment Type: Long-term contract with potential for permanent employment Clearance: Ability to Obtain Secret Required Qualifications: High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical tasks and 4 years or more of experience.
Experience with technical fabrication in a prototype/development environment with experience in metal fabrication, mechanical assembly, and composite fabrication while working in a teaming environment.
Demonstrated competence in the fabrication of basic steel and aluminum alloys using a knee mill, band saw, manual lathe, and basic hand-powered metal cutting.
Must be able to work a flex schedule, overtime, evenings, weekends, etc., and the position will require the candidate to work onsite, daily.
Capable of deconflicting scheduling conflicts with customers and possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize projects as needed.
Proficient in computing within a Windows-based MS Office-suite-centered environment for communication, scheduling, data processing, and basic data transfer.
Demonstrated sound writing and verbal communication skills.
Able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Not required to start.
Desired Qualifications: Knowledge of CNC machines and software, CATIA, Creo, Pro E, and G-code programming.
Experience with GD&T and Mil-Spec Standards.
Advanced working knowledge of various metals, layout, cutting, bending, and forming.
Working knowledge from concept design to product development.
Ability to communicate through development, perform guidance of working project, and tasking individuals.
Current DoD Secret clearance is highly preferred however not required.
Responsibilities: Operates a wide range of machine tools in the precision fabrication from aerospace-grade metals of prototype/development parts and assemblies, in support of internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs.
The manually or numerically controlled equipment used will require competency in lathe, mill, press, shear, band saw, and grinder operations.
Requested tasks are verified and evaluated with the Manager and test requester and scheduled in an environment where there are often competing and conflicting needs to be resolved.
