Set up all tools and programming to perform Computer Numerically Controlled machining operations. Determine what methods and processes to use for required factors such as life span, strength, finish, corrosion or other properties. Use blueprints, rough sketches, verbal instructions or description of items to work and plan sequence of operations. Plan work to determine procedures and machinery to be used. Incumbents must obtain and maintain a Valid State Driver's License. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing. 4Incumbent must obtain and maintain a base Forklift Operators License. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Machine Tool Operator without more than normal supervision. Must have the ability to performed machinist's tasks to modify, fabricate or repair components. Must be able to use various tools to perform these tasks to include set up, adjustments and operation of basic machine tools. Must have experience reading blue prints, rough sketches or working from a model. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires standing, stooping, bending and reaching; frequent handling of objects weighing up to 35 pounds; however, hoists, hand trucks, lifts and other workers are available to assist with heavier items. WORKING CONDITIONS: Most work is performed inside in a well lighted, heated, and ventilated area. Work area is normally noisy and the wearing of ear plugs or muffs may be required. There is exposure to flying metal chips, abrasive particles and hot metal, and skin irritations from contact with coolants, lubricants, solvents and abrasives. There is danger of injury to fingers and hands from cutting tools, grinding wheels, moving machine parts and rotating work pieces. There is a requirement for wearing of safety glasses or goggles, safety shoes, and other protective devices. These working conditions have been considered in the evaluation process. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
