Description Summary/Objective The Box Machine Operator position operates the box former machines and coordinates the process to ensure safety and efficiency. Essential Functions Performs machine start-up procedures, basic controls, and machine operations. Understands material requirements/types and performs product handling procedures. Feeds carton into box former machine according to customer and/or company's specifications. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions of the machines to the department supervisor and maintenance department. Complies with all food safety and GMP requirements. Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts. Must be able to perform but not limited to the following tasks: Understand schedule, cleaning, and basic maintenance of the machinery. Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above. Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regard to machine set-up. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Position Requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Strong verbal communication, reading, writing and math skills required. Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Ability to operate hand and electric pallet jack to move loads up to 1000 Lbs. Strong sense of urgency and personal accountability. Detail oriented and organized. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in different areas and near wet floors. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time seasonal position; work hours vary depending on workload. Requires availability to work irregular or extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Regular attendance and punctuality is required.
