Machine Operator Under direct supervision, operate machines used in production processes. Work from verbal or written instructions, diagrams, or models. Inspect machining operations and finished product against specified tolerances using precision measuring tools. Identify and escalate minor machine malfunctions. Perform simple routine maintenance and cleaning. This position requires shift work and the ability to work overtime. Powering Vehicles, Motion, Work, and Lives since 1966. Essential Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility's geographic location and: The Global Operating System Plays; OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety management system standard; ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management system standard; IATF 16949:2016 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standards Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar's Core Values and Leadership Behaviors. Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar's Stepping Stool of Success Strategy. Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements. Maintain department 5S requirements. Work to continuously improve all areas of productivity and reduce scrap. Submit and implement lean & safety suggestions. Operate machine tools to perform repetitive machining operations, such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, planning, honing, broaching, grinding or other machining operations many include basic set up processes. Verify dimensions of parts machined using micrometers, calipers and other precision measuring instruments. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinery (e.g., cleaning). Produce quality parts in order to meet production goals. Perform quality checks as required. Complete all necessary documentation for each part. Identify "out of tolerance" parts and report any nonconformance. Perform Pre-flight inspections at the start of each shift and report any sub-standard conditions or hazards found to supervisor. Provide guidance and train incoming Machine Operators. Adhere to all H&S and environmental laws and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Essential Skills Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to meet or exceed the company's attendance standards. Ability to understand and follow directions given. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Basic shop math Attention to detail Read and interpret Product Specifications Interact with supervisors to take direction on job assignments, to seek clarification on unclear drawings or job instructions, and to seek help when problems arise. Ability to clearly communicate with other employees across departments and levels Ability to work independently or with team Demonstrate good decision making skills Ability to work independently and when needed, be part of a team. Ability to prioritize Basic Computer Skills Ability to learn new specifications and procedures through on-the-job training and experience Working Conditions & Physical Requirements These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions. Ability to perform repetitive movements (e.g., gripping, turning wrists, reaching, twisting at waist, lifting). Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and push up to 30 lbs. without accommodation.
