Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor the Machine Mechanic Trainee is responsible for maintaining all manufacturing machines properly to enable the production of the product. With the guidance of the Senior Mechanic, they assist in the process of doing preventive maintenance, repairs, lubrication, troubleshooting and installation of all production machinery and all ancillary equipment. Also responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of product produced.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance, planned repairs, emergency repairs, preventive maintenance, lubrication and troubleshooting under the guidance of the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Mechanic
  • Assist Maintenance Mechanic and Set-up Mechanics whenever needed.
  • Solid understanding of hardware, hand tools, measuring instruments and proper tool usage.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on all assigned production equipment following the PM checklist under the guidance of the Maintenance Mechanic
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude (Electrical Knowledge is a plus)
  • Ability to follow instructions provided by the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Mechanic.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals
  • Preventable Maintenance experience is helpful
  • Knowledge of Lockout / Tagout.
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • The ability to adapt to changing situations and fast-moving environment.
  • Must comply with GMP requirements; specific functions and documents will be discussed in GMP and on the job training
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours
  • Work environment may be exposed to powders, chemicals, and allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish).
  • Ability to work in a physically challenging environment, including bending, kneeling, stretching and climbing.
