Job Description: Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - Long-Term Adult Psych Lockdown Facility


Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team at our Long-Term Adult Psych Lockdown Facility. As an LVN in this specialized environment, you will play a critical role in providing quality healthcare services to adult patients with psychiatric needs. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, safety, and the ability to handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.


Responsibilities:


Patient Care and Monitoring:


Perform regular health assessments and monitor the physical and mental well-being of patients with psychiatric conditions.

Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, following established protocols and ensuring accurate documentation.

Observe patients' behavior, mood changes, and reactions to treatments, reporting any concerns to the healthcare team promptly.

Crisis Intervention:


Participate in crisis intervention procedures to manage and de-escalate potentially dangerous or disruptive situations.

Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement appropriate care plans for patients during critical moments.

Documentation and Reporting:


Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting observations, interventions, and any significant changes in the patients' conditions.

Report critical incidents, patient progress, and any behavioral concerns to the healthcare team and facility management.

Collaborative Care:


Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.

Participate in team meetings, sharing insights and observations to support the development and adjustment of care plans.

Adherence to Regulations:


Comply with all facility policies, protocols, and state regulations related to psychiatric patient care.

Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and infection control practices to maintain a secure and healthy environment.

Patient Advocacy:


Advocate for the rights and dignity of patients, ensuring they receive compassionate care and are treated with respect and sensitivity.

Promote a therapeutic and supportive atmosphere for patients, helping to maintain a positive and healing-oriented environment.

Continuous Learning:


Stay up-to-date with advancements in psychiatric care and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:


Valid and current LVN license issued by the state regulatory board.

Prior experience working in psychiatric or behavioral health settings is highly desirable.

Understanding of psychiatric disorders, symptoms, and appropriate nursing interventions.

Ability to work with patients in lockdown situations and respond effectively to behavioral crises.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.

Strong emotional resilience and the capacity to handle high-stress situations with composure and empathy.

Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and accurate documentation practices.
