Summary: The METCO Bus Monitor provides supervision for students in the METCO program as they travel to and from school. This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: High School education Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues Excellent oral and written communication skills Desired Qualifications: Experience working with elementary school-age children Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To): Ride the bus with METCO students from Boston to Newton in the morning and back to Boston in the afternoon Manage student behavior on the bus Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students Responsible for implementing "other job related duties" as needed Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Work Environment: Majority of work is performed on a bus. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. Regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
