Description

Job Summary:

The Lube Express Oil Technician functions as a technician who can perform oil changes, tire rotations, and basic automotive maintenance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform oil changes, tire rotations, and basic automotive maintenance as outlined on repair orders.
  • Diagnose causes of vehicle malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.
  • Communicate with the Parts Department to obtain required parts.
  • Save and tag parts if under warranty or as requested by customers.
  • Inspect assigned vehicles for additional safety or service work.
  • Notify service advisor immediately of any additional work needed, unnecessary outlined work, or delays.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on repair orders.
  • Road test vehicles when required or refer to test technician.
  • Inspect newly delivered vehicles for damage and missing components.
  • Install optional equipment specified by customers or dealer.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensure customers' cars are kept clean.
  • Notify service advisor of any changes in vehicle appearance or condition.
  • Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
  • Safely operate all tools and equipment.
  • Report safety issues immediately.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficient in performing oil changes, tire rotations, and basic automotive maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair vehicle malfunctions accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to save and tag parts.
  • Familiarity with safety and service protocols.
  • Ability to document work performed and recommended.
  • Knowledge of test-driving vehicles and inspecting for damage and missing components.
  • Ability to install optional equipment as specified.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions promptly.
  • Commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to operate dealership-owned tools and equipment safely.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs and events.
  • Reliable and committed.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screen (background & hair follicle drug test)

Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate standard shift vehicles.
  • Enthusiasm for the Automotive Dealership industry with a customer service focus.
  • Experience in a dealership or similar environment.
  • Participation in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, or events.
  • Reliable with consistent attendance.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat for repairs and inspections.
  • Prolonged periods of walking on a level surface throughout the dealership
